Course Description

This practical and highly-interactive course includes real-life case studies and exercises where participants will be engaged in a series of interactive small groups and class workshops. The loading master person-in-charge (PIC) is the marine transfer operator at the marine terminal who supervises the movement of petroleum products between tanker ships, barges, and the terminal while the vessel is berthed at the dock. In this capacity the marine transfer operator ensures that all regulatory aspects concerning protection of the environment and maritime security are adhered to during marine transfer operations. Of particular importance is ensuring no water pollution occurs from a spill or a breach of security from the access of unauthorized personnel. This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of loading master for oil and gas terminals. It covers the procedures for handling, loading and discharging of oil and gas cargoes; the updated international regulations; the operational efficiency for oil storage and transport; the compliance, safety and environmental performances; and the special safety, maintenance and emergency procedures for oil and gas tankers. link to course overview PDF
