Course Description

This practical and highly-interactive course includes real-life case studies where participants will be engaged in a series of interactive small groups and class workshops. This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and an up-to-date overview of IOSH Managing Safety. It covers the three key moral, legal and financial reasons for managing safely; the manager responsibility and accountability for safety and health in the workplace; the risk assessment process and risk rating systems; evaluating risk using a risk matrix, reducing risk by applying the hierarchy of risk control and implementing risk controls; the law that requires an organisation to protect the safety and health of workers; the three knowledge tests to help and reasonably foreseeable risks; and the difference between criminal law and civil law in relation to safety and health. During this course, participants will learn the key parts, elements and benefits of a health and safety management system; the leadership as essential part of a health and safety management system; the six main hazard categories; the common hazards in the workplace including their effects and symptoms and how to manage them; the incident investigation, reporting and the stages of a structured approach to incident investigation; the three essential principles for good safety and health performance; the types of information performance indicators to improve safety and health in the workplace; the characteristics of good key performance indicators; the differences between proactive and reactive performance indicators; the internal and external auditing; and the types of evidence used in an audit. link to course overview PDF

If this course is delivered online as a Virtual Training, the following limitations will be applicable

Certificates: Only soft copy certificates will be issued to participants through Haward’s Portal. This includes Wallet Card Certificates if applicable

Training Methodology: 80% of the program will be theory and 20% will be practical sessions, exercises, case studies, simulators or videos
Training Program: The training will be for 4 hours per day starting at 09:30 and ending at 13:30
